Psychotherapy

A space to think about what may be difficult to understand alone

Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to explore emotional difficulties, relationships and recurring patterns with greater curiosity and depth.

Why psychotherapy?

People come to psychotherapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a particular difficulty or experience that has become hard to manage. At other times, it may be less easy to identify what feels wrong.

You might notice recurring difficulties in relationships, feelings of anxiety or low mood, difficulties with self-esteem or identity, or patterns in your life that seem difficult to understand or change.

Thinking together

Psychotherapy provides a confidential space in which experiences that may be difficult to think about elsewhere can begin to be explored.

I do not approach therapy with predetermined answers about what is wrong or what needs to change. Instead, we work together to develop a deeper understanding of your emotional experience, relationships and the patterns that may shape how you experience yourself and others.

How I work

My core training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This means I am interested not only in the difficulties you are experiencing now, but also in how earlier relationships and experiences may continue to influence the present.

My wider clinical experience also informs a flexible and integrative approach. Therapy is shaped around the individual rather than requiring everyone to work in the same way.

For some people, this may involve longer-term, open-ended psychotherapy that allows time for deeper exploration. For others, a more focused or time-limited approach may be appropriate.

Sessions

Sessions are usually weekly and last 50 minutes. I currently offer psychotherapy online to adults across the UK.

An initial consultation gives us an opportunity to think about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to explore, and whether a longer-term or more focused approach might be most appropriate.
