Psychotherapy for adults

I'm Nick Spinks, a UKCP-registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

I offer a confidential space to think more deeply about relationships, identity, emotional difficulties and the recurring patterns that shape our lives.

Psychotherapy grounded in curiosity and depth

Psychotherapy offers a space to think about aspects of ourselves and our relationships that can be difficult to understand alone.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms or immediate difficulties, we can become curious about recurring patterns, emotional experiences and the ways in which our past may continue to shape how we experience ourselves and others in the present.

A particular understanding of the experiences of GBQ+ men

Alongside my wider psychotherapy practice, I have a particular interest and expertise in working with gay, bisexual and queer men.

Sexuality can intersect with our sense of self in complex ways. Experiences of shame, difference, belonging, relationships and intimacy may continue to have an emotional impact long after coming out or finding greater acceptance in adult life.

My interest in this area has developed through both my clinical work and my research into the experiences of gay, bisexual and queer men, including internalised homophobia and its relationship with emotional distress.

Psychotherapy shaped around the individual

There is no single way of approaching psychotherapy. How we work will depend on what has brought you to therapy, what you would like to understand and what feels most useful as our work develops.

Working with GBQ+ men

I have a particular interest and expertise in working with gay, bisexual and queer men, including questions around identity, relationships, intimacy, shame and self-worth.

Online psychotherapy

I currently offer confidential 50-minute psychotherapy sessions online, providing a consistent space to meet wherever you are in the UK.

Make an initial enquiry

Getting in touch does not commit you to beginning psychotherapy. We can arrange an initial consultation to think together about what has brought you to therapy and whether working together might be helpful.

Get in touch

If you would like to enquire about psychotherapy or arrange an initial consultation with me, you are welcome to contact me using the form. A brief message is enough at this stage, and please avoid including detailed or sensitive personal information.
